Position Overview: Technologist Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the entire production process, ensuring product quality, safety, and compliance with food standards. This role requires a technical and practical understanding of food science, technology, and food safety protocols, as well as strategic oversight of production, quality assurance, process optimization, and regulatory compliance. The technologist must focus on maximizing efficiency, maintaining high-quality standards, and ensuring smooth daily operations on the production line.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management: Lead, manage, and mentor the food technology team
- Provide strategic direction and support to the production team, ensuring alignment towards company goals and objectives.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance
Production Oversight: Oversee the daily operations of the production lines, specifically the aseptic filling processes.
- Investigate and resolve product non-conformances
- Ensure the production schedule is followed, meeting target production volumes and deadlines.
- Supervise the monitoring equipment performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
- Supervise the adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for aseptic filling and production processes.
Raw material control and approval: Create and review internal specification sheets for raw materials
- Oversee the validation of all new raw materials
- Investigate and resolve raw material non-conformances
Aseptic Processing Management: Ensure the aseptic filling process maintains the highest standards of hygiene and sterilization.
- Monitor and adjust sterilization parameters to ensure product safety and quality.
Process Optimization & Efficiency: Continuously review production processes and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.
- Track production data and make data-driven decisions to improve operations.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to workplace safety guidelines
Documentation and Reporting: Create and review internal specification sheets for raw materials and final products
- Maintain accurate production logs, reports, and records of quality tests, audits, and inspections.
- Maintain logs to ensure traceability
- Prepare regular reports for upper management on production efficiency, quality control issues, and improvement efforts.
Quality Control Management: Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure products meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular product sampling, inspections, and lab testing (e.g., microbial, chemical, and sensory analysis).
- Maintain traceability of products to ensure compliance with food safety and quality certifications (e.g., HACCP, ISO, BRC).
- Investigate non-conformities and product defects, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in food production, preferably with a focus on aseptic filling lines or at the least beverage production line.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations, including HACCP, ISO standards, and GMP.
- Hands-on experience with aseptic filling equipment, CIP (Clean-In-Place) systems, and packaging machinery.
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques for product testing (microbiological, chemical, and sensory analysis).
- Knowledge of food preservation techniques, shelf life testing, and sterilization processes.
- Previous experience in a medium-scale food production site with aseptic filling lines.
- This role requires someone with a balance of technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and leadership skills to manage the complexities of aseptic food production while ensuring high standards of product quality and efficiency.
