About the job System Engineer (Backup)

Responsibilities

  1. Project deployment, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Hybrid IT Solutions such as storage virtualization & hyper-converge infrastructure (HCI) solution.
  2. Project planning which includes creation of project documentation such as Statement of Work, Build Document, UAT Test & etc.
  3. Design, implement, and manage end-to-end backup/ data protection solutions across on-premises and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  4. Work with Project Managers and customers to manage project deliverables and timelines.
  5. Conducts / leads POC workshop to meet customer, business and technical objectives.
  6. Lead regular DR drills exercises to test RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective) targets.
  7. Provide technical expertise in project implementation and field support.
  8. Work closely with vendors to address, track, execute and ensure proper closure of technical support cases.
  9. To stay abreast of new rapidly changing technologies and new product releases by regularly participating in technology training & certifications.

Job Requirement

  1. Diploma in IT or equivalent with minimum 2 years of relevant experience in implementing enterprise backup/ data protection solutions.
  1. Note: This position requires backup/ data protection implementation skills.

This is not a Backup admin position.

  1. Good knowledge of server OS installation, configuration and optimization like Windows Server or Redhat Linux.
  2. Good knowledge of networking, tiered storage, object storage and distributed computing concepts.
  3. Proficiency with enterprise backup suites (e.g., Veeam, Cohesity, Commvault, Veritas, or Rubrik) and cloud-native tools (e.g., AWS Backup).
  4. Experience backing up relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, RDS) and NoSQL environments.
  5. Must have ONE of the following backup credentials:
  • Veeam Certified – VMCE/ VMCE+/ VMCSE
  • Commvault Certified – CCE/ CCP
  • Commvault Cloud (Metallic) Certifications
  • Cohesity Protection Associate/ Professional
  • Cohesity Certified Architect Expert - CCAE
  • Rubrik White Belt/ Green Belt/ Black Belt
  • Others
