Senior Trader
Job Description:
Summary
This position will be responsible in negotiating purchases and sales of crude palm oil in the highly dynamic and challenging market to optimizing the demand of crude palm oil of Pacific Group refinery.
Responsibilities:
- Trade domestic crude palm oil within grades, time-spreads and prices.
- Provide commercial support to the physical supply of bulk oil from all domestic sources.
- Carry out trading research and relevant market intelligence, including supply and demand balances and competitor activities and report regularly to GM of BTD.
- Build relationships and establish network of external trading counterparties, refiners, and producers in order to understand their requirements, strategies, drivers, business portfolio and market views.
- Develop & foster a network relationship with domestic buyers, negotiate sales terms, and ensure all aspects of physical risk are covered in cargo transactions.
- Consulting with related department and superior to determine refinery requirements, and developing optionality in crude supplies.
- Provide analysis on short term & long term commercial opportunities and risks.
- Take into consideration, risk, credit costs and the competitive environment when pricing.
- Work with the sustainability team to increase approved CPO supplier pool and grow our origination presence with a strong focus on sustainability and traceability to plantation.
- Liaise with colleagues in shipping and operations to ensure all physical movements are executed safely and efficiently.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor degree in related discipline.
- Four of five years minimum of experience in crude palm oil trading industry is a MUST.
- Proven track record in bulk oil trading and a wide network of relevant and deep relationships with external trading counterparties, refiners, and producers.
- Has full knowledge and understanding of regulatory rules in both physical and financial crude palm oil markets and potential impacts if these rules change as well as experience in dealing with it.
- Has technical understanding of the relationship between physical and financial crude oil markets, knowledge of macro and micro economics and how these impact commodity pricing.
- Deep understanding of inter-regional crude oil flows, refinery operations and shipping markets.
- Understanding of Refinery processes and upstream activities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Ms. Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills both in Bahasa and in English.
- Preferably domicile in Medan area or willing to be placed in Medan.
