Chief Finance Officer

 Job Description:

I.            Duties

·         Assist in formulating the company’s future direction & supporting tactical initiatives

·         Manage the capital request & budgeting process

·         Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team

·         Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced

·         Implements operational best practices

·         Report financial results to the BOD

 

II.            Responsibilities

·         Monitor & direct the implementation of strategic business plans

·         Oversee the company’s transactions processing systems

·         Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the company including: company revenue/expense & balance sheet reports, reports to funding agencies, development and monitoring company & contract/grant budgets

·         Responsible to control the cash flow position throughout the company, understand the sources & uses of cash & maintain the integrity of funds, securities and other valuable documents

·         Understand all of the company’s liabilities. A company has many legal contracts, statutory & tax obligations, hidden liabilities in the form of contingencies, leases, or insurance summaries, and expectations from loan covenants and/or the board of directors

·         Responsible for overseeing the budget process, collecting the inputs, and comparing the company’s actual performance with estimates (the budget)

 

III.            Authorities

·         Develop financial & tax strategies

·         Develop performances measures that support the company’s strategic direction

·         Participate in developing new business, specifically assist the CEO & COO in identifying new funding opportunities

·         Develop and monitor policies & procedure within generally accepted accounting principles & corporate guidelines to ensure sufficient cash flow, reduced operating costs & increased revenues

·         Approve all agreements concerning financial obligations, such as contracts for raw materials, IT assets, and services, and other actions requiring a commitment of financial resources
