Global Accountant
Job Description:
The Global Accountant is responsible for all areas relating to historic financial accounting. This position will be responsible for maintaining and applying accounting principles, practices and procedures in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and corporate policies to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The Global Accountant is responsible for ensuring that duties are efficiently executed and completed in a timely and accurate manner. The position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, monthly financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget, expense and cashflow management & forecasting.
Description
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies across the company
- Support the Group Financial Manager audit and in statutory accounting practices and regulations relevant all the companies in the group
- Responsible for the compilation of information for preparation of tax returns with Tax consultancy firms and ensures full tax and other statutory compliance for the entities
- Management of insurance contracts relevant
- Responsible for the review of oversight Accounts receivable and the collections as applicable
- Responsible for the management of accurate and timely capturing of Accounts payable
- Ensure all intercompany accounts balance monthly and at year end with the corresponding Intercompany partner.
- Responsible for cashflow management
- Analyse the effect of statutory accounting practices and studies regulations and guidance to ensure correct application of IFRS
- Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses
- Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation across the group
- Interacts with the Global Financial Manager to produce timely, efficient, and accurate month-end close and financial reporting through to year-end
- Provide continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices.
- Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes
- Management of Fixed Assets, leases and other contracts
- Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud
- Responsible for managing accounting payroll activities
- Review of financial statements variances to budget
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, or related major required / equivalent qualification
- SAIPA registration preferred / SAICA registration advantageous
- Minimum of 3-5 years of broad financial and operations experience required
- Ability to develop and establish internal financial policies and procedures
- Strong understanding of IFRS
- Advanced English language skills
- Ability to communicate with different stakeholders at different levels
- Previous managerial experience

Salary: Market Related
Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00 - 17:00
