Compliance Officer
Job Description:
The Compliance Officer operates as an autonomous and impartial entity tasked with overseeing compliance and governance activities. This individual is responsible for assessing regulatory adherence across various organizational tiers, as well as ensuring alignment with corporate culture by verifying adherence to company policies and procedures. Additionally, the Officer ensures that organizational behavior aligns with the company's standards of ethical conduct.
- Main Responsibilities:
1. Develop, update, and implement the Company's systems, Code of conduct, policies, procedures, and controls to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct in addition to anti-money laundering and combating terrorism financing.
2. Update indicators of the regulatory environment including but not limited to money laundering or terrorist financing.
3. Providing guidance to management and employees in topics relating to compliance and collaborating with other departments to sort out any regulatory compliance issue.
4. Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
5. Meet all obligations stated in the law and bylaws in terms of Compliance and AML.
6. Ensures proper reporting of violations or potential violations to the regulators as may be required.
7. Conduct Screening and KYC (or EDD) on all prospective clients, Service Providers, and employees in addition to ensuring that all documents are available.
8. Opening accounts with counterparties and completing the Company's KYC as required by the counterparties considering the governing laws.
9. Participation in project work where applicable.
- Education: Bachelors degree in economics, Legal, Management or Financial fields or holds one of the professional certificates as approved by the Regulators.
- Experience: 3- 5 years of experience in the Compliance profession or professions as required by the Regulator provided that the candidate has the years of experience in a financial or banking institution as required by the Regulator.
- Qualifications and Skills:
- A professional certification or licensing is also a plus for this field.
- Research skills and a good knowledge regarding financial institution policies.
- Ability to read and correctly interpret CMA and legal documents.
- Ability to respond appropriately to inquiries from CMA Reports, courts, regulatory agencies, and outside consultants.
