Our client is a leading international construction and infrastructure company with a significant portfolio of large-scale, complex projects across Asia Pacific. Our Singapore operations are expanding, focusing on delivering state-of-the-art, mission-critical facilities. We are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead and oversee our high-profile data center projects in Singapore.
Position Summary
The Project Director will be the single point of accountability for the overall successful delivery of one or more major data center construction projects. This role requires full strategic, commercial, and operational leadership from the pre-construction phase through to final handover, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for client relationships, leading a large project team, and managing all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy:
- Provide overall strategic direction and leadership for the project(s), ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a large, multidisciplinary project team, including Project Managers, engineers, and commercial staff.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, collaboration, and high performance.
Project Delivery & Execution:
- Assume full responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of large-scale, fast-track data center projects.
- Oversee all project phases: design management, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Ensure strict adherence to project schedules, driving progress and implementing recovery plans when necessary.
- Enforce the highest standards of quality, workmanship, and compliance with specifications.
Commercial & Financial Management:
- Hold ultimate accountability for the project's financial performance, including budget, cost control, forecasting, and profitability.
- Oversee contract administration, variations, claims, and risk management.
- Ensure robust financial reporting and commercial processes are in place and followed.
Stakeholder & Client Management:
- Serve as the primary senior point of contact for the client, building and maintaining strong, trust-based relationships.
- Effectively manage relationships with key stakeholders, including consultants, authorities, utilities providers, and subcontractors.
- Ensure clear and regular communication on project status, risks, and issues.
Safety, Quality & Environment:
- Champion a "Zero Harm" safety culture, ensuring full compliance with all company and statutory safety regulations.
- Ensure all environmental and sustainability objectives for the project are met.
- Uphold rigorous quality assurance and control protocols throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications & Experience
- A recognized Bachelor's degree in MEP Engineer, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in construction project management, with at least 3-5 years in a senior leadership role (Project Director or Senior Project Manager) specifically on large-scale, mission-critical projects.
- Proven and demonstrable track record of successfully delivering multiple, full-cycle data center construction projects in Singapore or the Asia Pacific region.
- In-depth knowledge of Singapore's construction regulations, building codes, and authority submission processes.
- Strong technical understanding of data center-specific systems, including MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), structured cabling, cooling, power, and security.
- Outstanding leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
