Senior Quality, Environmental and Sustainability Manager
Job Description:
Role Purpose
Responsible for leading and embedding quality, environmental, and sustainability excellence across the project. The role provides governance, assurance, and expert guidance to ensure compliance with contractual, statutory, and corporate requirements, while driving continuous improvement and sustainable project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Quality, Environmental & Sustainability Leadership
- Lead the development and implementation of project-wide QES strategy and culture aligned with Group objectives.
- Develop and deploy QES management systems, frameworks, procedures, and tools.
- Support delivery of sustainability initiatives, including Net Zero strategies.
Planning & Project Support
- Guide project teams in preparing Quality and Environmental Plans compliant with contractual, statutory, and corporate requirements.
- Establish QES training programs and oversee implementation of the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).
Performance Monitoring, Audit & Compliance
- Monitor QES performance, including audits, risk assessments, non-conformances, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, licenses, and certification requirements.
- Provide accurate and timely QES reporting to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Knowledge, Training & Capability Development
- Deliver QES training to enhance competency and awareness across project teams and subcontractors.
- Maintain effective document control and promote lessons learned and knowledge sharing.
- Provide QES input into pre-qualifications and tenders.
Innovation & Sustainability Initiatives
- Collaborate with Innovation and IT teams to develop and roll out QES tools, systems, and initiatives.
- Research and implement sustainability solutions supporting long-term environmental performance.
People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop the QES team, setting objectives and managing performance.
- Identify capability gaps and implement targeted development plans.
Health & Safety
- Promote and support the companys Health & Safety policy and safety culture.
- Ensure all QES activities are conducted with appropriate safety controls.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in a construction-related or relevant discipline.
- 12–15 years experience in quality, environmental, or sustainability roles, including leadership responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of ISO standards, environmental legislation, and quality management systems.
- Experience working in large, complex construction projects and multicultural teams.
- Proven ability to lead teams, develop strategy, and drive continuous improvement.
