Job Summary

The Operations Director will report to the Managing Director, leading the Operations Team. This role is accountable for overseeing the day-to-day management and maintenance of our client's data center in Malaysia, ensuring efficient, reliable, and secure operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day data center operations, ensuring smooth functioning, efficiency, and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Optimize performance of critical infrastructure (e.g., chiller plant, power distribution units).
  • Develop and implement data center strategies aligned with organizational short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the team, fostering high productivity and operational excellence.
  • Ensure data center uptime and availability.
  • Develop and implement robust incident and change management processes, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
  • Respond to and resolve critical incidents promptly, minimizing impact and ensuring high service availability.
  • Review and approve change requests, ensuring proper testing, documentation, and communication.
  • Manage budgeting and cost, identifying optimization opportunities without compromising service quality.
  • Ensure data center compliance with relevant regulations and standards (data security, privacy, environmental sustainability).
  • Maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and service providers.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of data center processes, procedures, and configurations.
  • Report operational performance, uptime, incident management, and capacity utilization to stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and innovation to enhance operational effectiveness and scalability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Management, or equivalent.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in data center operations and critical infrastructure systems, with a focus on mission-critical environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Exceptional customer experience and leadership skills.
  • Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP), Certified Data Centre Management Professional (CDCMP), or similar certifications are highly desirable.
