Job Summary
The Commissioning Manager will lead and manage the commissioning program for data center projects, ensuring technical delivery aligns with company and client expectations. This role involves developing and implementing commissioning strategies, overseeing critical system validation, and driving continuous improvement in practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the client as Commissioning Manager for projects.
- Provide monthly and close-out project reports to Project Directors and Project Managers.
- Ensure technical service delivery meets client and company expectations.
- Manage technical report compilation and status report submissions, including progress updates.
- Appraise design, shop drawings, specifications, and project documents for commissioning.
- Conduct progressive site inspections to identify commissioning-related concerns.
- Witness and review contractor's testing and commissioning results for compliance.
- Ensure works adhere to company procedures and industry codes.
- Oversee and review deliverables produced by subordinates.
- Assist in developing and implementing the global commissioning program, ensuring quality and compliance across data center projects.
- Develop and implement comprehensive commissioning strategies and methodologies aligned with industry best practices.
- Lead the commissioning program across multiple regional data center projects, coordinating with construction teams, vendors, and operations.
- Create and manage detailed commissioning schedules integrated with overall project timelines.
- Oversee testing and validation of critical systems (power distribution, cooling, fire protection, security, IT infrastructure).
- Review and approve commissioning plans, test scripts, and completion documentation.
- Identify and mitigate risks to commissioning completion and facility handover.
- Manage commissioning resources, including internal teams and third-party vendors.
- Establish quality control processes to verify systems meet design and operational requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement of commissioning practices and procedures.
Requirements
- Degree or above in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 12 years of data center experience in MEP systems, building services coordination, and/or testing & commissioning, with at least 3 years at a managerial level.
- Familiarity with key international hyperscaler testing and commissioning (T&C) requirements.
- Strong understanding of T&C processes, site installation, and project management in the MEP and building services field.
- Proficiency in PC applications including MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD, and Revit.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
- Reliable, proactive, and self-motivated with strong leadership initiative.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills to manage stakeholders.
- Candidates with lesser experience may be considered for a Commissioning Engineer role.
