Supplier Quality Engineer
Role Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of incoming materials and promoting continuous improvement within our supplier base. This position is responsible for managing the entire supplier quality lifecycle, from initial evaluation and identification to ongoing audits and performance enhancement, ultimately contributing to reduced procurement costs and consistent product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Incoming Material Quality Management:
- Oversee the overall planning and daily management of incoming inspection activities.
- Confirm, determine, and resolve abnormalities identified during incoming material inspection.
- Track and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions for incoming material quality issues.
- Coordinate and schedule daily Incoming Quality Control (IQC) work based on material arrival needs.
- Review daily inspection reports.
- Arrange and manage re-inspection activities for raw material inventory.
- Confirm re-inspection results and track responsibility for raw materials returned from production.
- Supplier Evaluation & Selection:
- Execute all tasks related to the evaluation and identification of new suppliers, as well as auditing qualified suppliers, in accordance with procurement control procedures and the supplier management system.
- Assist the technology department in the recognition and qualification of new materials.
- Conduct supplier risk assessments and ad-hoc audits.
- Supplier Performance & Development:
- Provide guidance and support to suppliers for quality improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain monthly and annual assessment forms for supplier delivery performance based on the Supplier Management System.
- Drive and verify the effectiveness of quality improvement efforts with suppliers.
- Initiate timely quality claims against suppliers for losses incurred due to their responsibility.
- Promote the establishment of robust quality assurance teams within supplier organizations.
- Monitor and review the achievement of material quality targets.
- Confirm and control supplier changes impacting material quality.
- Quality Improvement & Issue Resolution:
- Responsible for issuing 8D reports for abnormal supplier materials, controlling timelines, and following up on improvement effectiveness.
- Regularly collect, confirm, and file supplier documentation including third-party testing (e.g., RoHS) reports, MSDS reports, and performance test reports.
- Evaluate the quality performance of suppliers and conduct preliminary reviews of PPAP materials submitted by suppliers.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- College degree or above in a relevant field (e.g., Mechatronics Integration, Quality Management, Engineering).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in supplier quality management.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Proficient understanding and application of quality management tools and methodologies such as APQP, SWOT, PDCA, PPAP, 8D, FMEA, and 5W2H.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective supplier collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
