Shift Manager (Data Centre)

 Job Description:

As Shift Manager, you will act as the senior leader on shift, responsible for the overall management and monitoring of the facility during your hours. You will assist the Facilities Manager with tactical planning, energy management, and the coordination of all maintenance activities to ensure optimal plant efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Oversight: Provide general FM services, continuously monitor facility systems, and manage daily operations, including scheduling preventative maintenance and responding to urgent calls.
  • Team Coordination: Assist the FM in assigning tasks to technical resources and arranging for PPM contractors, ensuring all safety documentation (JHA, worker lists) is in place.
  • HSE & Compliance: Enforce site safety and HSE standards. Competently conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHA). Assist in submitting approvals for statutory compliance letters and work permits.
  • Administration & Reporting: Coordinate and prepare overall performance reports. Manage contract administration and assist in procuring property supplies and services. Update floor plans as needed.
  • Energy & Efficiency: Recommend and implement continuous improvement and energy management initiatives (PUE reduction).
  • Vendor Coordination: Set up and manage vendor access, and assist in the application process for new JLL vendors.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Operational Engineering.
  • Experience: 3–4 years of relevant experience in engineering or a critical environment, with 1–2 years in Tier III (or equivalent) data centre operations.
  • Skills: Hands-on knowledge of M&E building systems (CRAC, chillers, UPS, switchgears). Proven ability to interact professionally with clients and vendors. Experienced with continuous improvement and reporting.
