Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and technically competent Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Manager to oversee and manage all M&E works on a project site in Kuala Lumpur. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the proper execution, coordination, and monitoring of M&E installations in strict accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, project schedules, and applicable standards. This role requires strong site experience, technical expertise, and exceptional coordination capabilities within a fast-paced construction environment, collaborating closely with the Project Director, consultants, contractors, site teams, and client representatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, coordinate, and monitor all on-site Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) works from implementation through to timely completion.
- Oversee daily M&E site activities, including installation, testing, inspection, coordination, and progress tracking.
- Plan, estimate, and allocate necessary resources for M&E works, encompassing manpower, materials, consumables, equipment, tools, and subcontractor support.
- Review construction drawings, contract documents, technical specifications, approved shop drawings, and relevant standards prior to work execution.
- Interpret M&E drawings and ensure accurate execution of works according to approved design, project requirements, and site conditions.
- Analyze and plan construction methodologies for M&E works, recommending practical, efficient, and cost-effective solutions to the Project Director.
- Provide technical guidance, engineering support, and site direction to M&E teams, subcontractors, and associated work groups.
- Coordinate M&E works with civil, structural, architectural, and other trade teams to minimize clashes, delays, and rework.
- Liaise with client representatives, consultants, contractors, authorities, and other stakeholders on technical matters, site instructions, inspections, and approvals.
- Monitor site progress to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly targets are achieved in line with the project schedule.
- Identify potential technical issues, coordination gaps, site constraints, and delays, proposing corrective actions or mitigation measures.
- Ensure all M&E installations comply with approved drawings, project specifications, contract documents, statutory requirements, and relevant codes of practice.
- Support inspection activities, testing and commissioning works, quality checks, and handover preparations.
- Prepare and submit required project documentation, including daily site reports, inspection requests, progress updates, monitoring reports, and estimates.
- Assist the Project Director in achieving project objectives related to schedule, quality, safety, cost control, and technical delivery.
- Ensure proper coordination of M&E works to support overall project sequencing and construction progress.
- Collaborate closely with the safety team to ensure all M&E site activities adhere to safety procedures and site requirements.
- Attend site meetings, technical coordination meetings, progress meetings, and client/consultant discussions as required.
- Perform any other project-related duties assigned by the Project Director or superior.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of site experience in M&E works, specifically for large-scale building, infrastructure, industrial, or mission-critical projects.
- Strong hands-on experience in M&E site coordination, installation, supervision, inspection, testing, and overall project execution.
- Solid understanding of basic design requirements, fabrication processes, estimation, installation methods, and site activities pertinent to Mechanical and Electrical works.
- Familiarity with M&E construction methodologies, equipment, materials, consumables, tools, manpower planning, and subcontractor coordination.
- Proficient in reading, interpreting, and executing M&E drawings, shop drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate with civil, structural, architectural, and other project teams to resolve site coordination issues.
- Strong knowledge of project specifications, construction standards, quality requirements, and safety compliance relevant to M&E works.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage site teams, subcontractors, and multiple work fronts.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, capable of identifying site issues and proposing practical solutions.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and meet tight project deadlines.
- Good communication and coordination skills for liaising with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Data Centre projects, mission-critical facilities, MEP-intensive developments, large-scale commercial buildings, industrial projects, or infrastructure projects.
