Systems Engineer – BMS Control/Application

Location: Johor Data Center

Our client is a leading developer and operator of data centers in the Asia Pacific region, headquartered in Singapore.

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Systems Engineer – BMS Control/Application to join our client's team at their Johor Data Center. Reporting to the Systems Manager, you will serve as the primary technical contact for system-related matters, leading technical discussions and clarifications. A deep understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS), particularly in studying, clarifying, and negotiating technical requirements, is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish Data Center Building Management Systems for new and existing setups, covering all technical aspects from designing, integration, testing, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), installation, commissioning, and warranty.
  • Liaise with relevant contractors for daily BMS-related operations and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Support the project team during Site Acceptance Test and integration testing phases, particularly during project handover and transition.
  • Sustain BMS operations by ensuring timely system maintenance of instrumentation, electrical, mechanical, and fire protection systems to maximize uptime.
  • Continuously review performance databases and initiate corrective actions for system performance improvement.
  • Promptly respond to all fault finding, diagnosis, and recovery of systems during breakdowns.
  • Support the development of a real-time dashboard platform for monitoring capacity loading, ensuring all maintenance regimes and activities comply with contractual agreements.
  • Support the development of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to assist the Critical Facility team with total cost of ownership (TCO) forecasting, budgeting, purchasing, and cost control measures.
  • Draft, review, and revise operational documents, including but not limited to Emergency Procedures, Operating Procedures, Project Tender Specifications, and Change Management.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's or Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control, or Building Services.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in BMS, Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), or Facility Management Control Systems (FMCS).
  • Knowledge of Data Center and/or other mission-critical facilities design, operation, and maintenance.
  • Essential knowledge in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control, fire protection, and security systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word, BMS/EPMS, CMMS/Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Microsoft Business Intelligence (BI).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis.
