M&E Manager

 Job Description:

About the Company

Our client is a premier, international-standard project management consultancy with an impeccable track record of delivering complex projects on time and on budget. In an industry where cost overruns and delays are the norms, our client stands out by consistently executing seamless project delivery through data-driven processes and innovative management solutions.

We are seeking a highly technical, solutions-oriented M&E Manager to join our elite team and drive engineering excellence across our project portfolio.

Role Overview

As an M&E Manager, you will lead and oversee the coordination, installation, testing, and commissioning of all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems from project inception to final handover. Because M&E systems represent the life support of any modern building, you will serve as the technical anchor linking clients, engineering consultants, and specialized sub-contractors. True to our company ethos, you will not just spot design conflicts or site clashes—you will proactively orchestrate remedies to ensure seamless systems integration without stalling project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Review: Review M&E drawings, technical specifications, and method statements to identify design discrepancies, buildability issues, and value-engineering opportunities early.

Interference & Clash Coordination: Lead building services coordination meetings and oversee the resolution of structural/architectural/M&E clashes (utilizing BIM processes where applicable) before physical installation begins.

Site Progress & Quality Control: Supervise site installations to ensure sub-contractors comply strictly with approved shop drawings, local building codes, safety standards, and strict quality control metrics.

Testing & Commissioning (T&C): Direct and manage the entire T&C process, ensuring all systems (HVAC, fire fighting, electrical, plumbing, ELV) are fully functional, integrated, and ready for authority inspections and client handover.

Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary technical advisor to clients, architects, civil engineers, and regulatory authorities on all M&E matters, fostering a collaborative, solution-focused environment.

Contract & Variations Management: Evaluate M&E sub-contractor progress claims, technical variations, and material submissions to mitigate budgetary risks and timeline delays.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related building services engineering discipline.

Experience: Minimum of 6–9 years of proven experience in M&E/MEP management, ideally with a background in complex projects (e.g., high-rise residential, mixed-use commercial, data centers, or industrial facilities) within a project management consultancy or reputable main contractor.

Technical Skills:

Deep technical knowledge of local Malaysia M&E authorities regulations (e.g., Suruhanjaya Tenaga, Syabas, IWK, BOMBA, TNB).

Strong familiarity with modern building systems, green building standards (GBI/Green Mark), and BIM (Building Information Modeling) workflows.

Proficiency in project management and engineering tools (AutoCAD, MS Project, or specialized construction tech platforms).

Soft Skills:

A proactive, "find a remedy" mindset with sharp, analytical problem-solving skills to unpack complex technical issues.

Strong commanding presence with excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills on-site.

Language: Professional fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is required. Professional proficiency in Mandarin or other dialects is a distinct advantage due to project vendor demographics.

What We Offer

The opportunity to work with an industry-leading consultancy managing high-profile, landmark developments.

A dynamic, collaborative, and innovation-driven work culture that respects and values technical expertise.
