Position Overview
Prequel Solutions is seeking a Human Resources Generalist for a large-scale manufacturing organization in the New Iberia / Lafayette, LA area.
This is a hands-on HR role supporting a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment. The HR Generalist will provide day-to-day HR support to assigned employee groups and partner closely with supervisors, managers, and HR leadership.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being visible in the business, supporting frontline employees, handling employee relations matters, and helping leaders resolve people-related issues in a practical and professional way.
The right candidate will be organized, approachable, resilient, and comfortable working in an environment where no two days look exactly the same.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day HR support to employees, supervisors, and department leaders.
- Serve as a resource for employee questions, concerns, and HR-related issues.
- Support employee relations matters, including investigations, corrective actions, performance issues, documentation, and conflict resolution.
- Partner with managers to address attendance, conduct, policy interpretation, performance management, and workplace concerns.
- Support onboarding, offboarding, employment status changes, leaves of absence, terminations, resignations, and related HR administration.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, files, and HR documentation.
- Assist with benefits questions, open enrollment support, payroll issue resolution, and general employee inquiries.
- Support new hire orientation and employee communications.
- Partner with HR leadership to improve HR processes, procedures, and systems.
- Stay connected to employee morale by maintaining visibility with the workforce and regularly engaging with employees and leaders.
- Attend operations meetings to better understand the business and provide stronger HR support.
- Assist with annual pay planning, performance reviews, and other recurring HR programs.
- Ensure HR practices are aligned with company policies and applicable employment laws.
- Escalate complex issues to HR management when appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality and operate with professionalism, good judgment, and ethical decision-making.
Required Qualifications
- 2–4+ years of Human Resources experience.
- Proven employee relations experience.
- Working knowledge of employment laws and HR policies.
- Experience supporting hourly, frontline, or operational employee populations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build credibility with employees and leaders at all levels.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR systems.
- Bachelor's degree required; Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, logistics, warehouse, distribution, healthcare, or another high-volume operational environment.
- Experience with HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, or workforce management systems.
- HR certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar.
- Experience supporting leaves of absence, FMLA, workers' compensation, modified duty, unemployment, payroll questions, and corrective action processes.
