Cloud Support Engineer
Job Description:
Our client is looking for a Cloud Support Engineer who will be responsible for maintaining and supporting agency-level cloud environments, including Azure and AWS. This includes activities such as monitoring, troubleshooting, compliance, and optimization to ensure smooth and secure cloud operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all cloud operations-related inquiries and issues.
- Provide after-hours support to maintain the uninterrupted operation of agency cloud services.
- Create, modify, and manage cloud alerts to monitor system performance.
- Monitor application workloads to ensure optimal performance and prevent disruptions.
- Proactively identify issues, manage events, and handle notifications and escalations.
- Oversee Major Incident Management (MIM) for priority 1 incidents, including coordination, documentation, root cause analysis (RCA), and notifications.
- Implement automated remediation for recurring issues.
- Update hosting and design documents as necessary.
- Manage documentation and approval workflows for both agency-specific and enterprise activities.
- Address and resolve cloud security alerts, ensuring compliance with security requirements, and monitor certificate expiration and renewals.
- Implement security controls for the agency in line with organizational standards.
- Perform patch management on cluster environments, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Kubernetes versions.
- Develop and manage automated advanced sequences for enhanced efficiency.
- Conduct file-level restorations as required.
- Identify and act on cost-saving opportunities, monitor excessive resource usage, and escalate cost-related concerns.
- Implement billing and cost management tags for better resource allocation.
- Maintain the IT Service Management Knowledge Base portal for reporting and investigation purposes.
- Develop detailed procedural manuals for agency management processes.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience as a System Engineer or Cloud Engineer, with hands-on expertise in implementation, security, and best practices in cloud environments (Azure and AWS).
- In-depth knowledge of networking and connectivity with AWS and/or Azure (via Direct Connect and/or ExpressRoute).
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Administrator certifications in Azure and/or AWS (preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of Azure and/or AWS.
- Ability to work closely with diverse teams across delivery centers, anticipating their needs and exceeding expectations.
- Demonstrated organizational, communication, change management, and problem-solving skills.
- Deep technical understanding of cloud technologies, staying current with emerging trends and developments.
- Proven experience in large enterprise environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear interactions with clients.
