Senior Cost Accountant
Job Description:
The Senior Cost Accountant plays a key role responsible for all financial activities related to the division, including month-end close, adherence to internal and external policies and procedures, variance analysis to drive continuous improvement, and full P&L and balance sheet ownership.
Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Partner with internal stakeholders, cross-functional teams, management, and external parties to support financial needs
- Analyze cost trends across the division, including product line and overall business profitability
- Prepare monthly close journal entries and investigate and resolve variances in a timely manner
- Perform detailed account reconciliations and analysis for key balance sheet accounts
- Monitor cost accounting systems, bills of materials (BOM), and inventory movements across four plant locations
- Conduct and oversee physical inventory counts at company facilities and external locations
- Provide guidance and support to personnel on inventory and ERP system-related issues
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by challenging existing processes and supporting management efforts to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Support additional financial, operational, and compliance activities as needed
- Respond to internal and external audit requests in a timely manner
- Assist with ongoing SAP implementation efforts across business units
Experience, Education, & License Requirements:
- 5–10 years of accounting experience required, including a minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, operational controls, and business processes
- Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
