Chief Accountant

Job Summary

The Chief Accountant is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities within the company, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies. They play a key role in financial planning, reporting, and analysis to support management in decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS/GAAP.
  • Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and implement internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, including VAT, corporate tax, and payroll taxes.
  • Liaise with external auditors and coordinate audit activities.

Accounting & Financial Operations:

  • Supervise daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, GL, and payroll processing.
  • Oversee cash flow management, bank reconciliations, and treasury functions.
  • Ensure proper classification and recording of financial transactions.
  • Monitor fixed assets register and depreciation schedules.

Budgeting & Cost Control:

  • Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Analyze variances between actual and budgeted financial results and provide insights.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and financial controls.

Team Management & Leadership:

  • Supervise and mentor the accounting team, ensuring continuous development.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with other departments for financial and operational efficiency.

Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Work closely with senior management to provide financial insights and recommendations.
  • Communicate with banks, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies.
  • Support decision-making by providing financial reports and performance analysis.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or ACCA is a plus).
  • Minimum 57 years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior role.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
