Chief Accountant
Job Description:
Job Summary
The Chief Accountant is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities within the company, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies. They play a key role in financial planning, reporting, and analysis to support management in decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS/GAAP.
- Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing.
- Maintain accurate financial records and implement internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, including VAT, corporate tax, and payroll taxes.
- Liaise with external auditors and coordinate audit activities.
Accounting & Financial Operations:
- Supervise daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, GL, and payroll processing.
- Oversee cash flow management, bank reconciliations, and treasury functions.
- Ensure proper classification and recording of financial transactions.
- Monitor fixed assets register and depreciation schedules.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Analyze variances between actual and budgeted financial results and provide insights.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives and financial controls.
Team Management & Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, ensuring continuous development.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with other departments for financial and operational efficiency.
Stakeholder Coordination:
- Work closely with senior management to provide financial insights and recommendations.
- Communicate with banks, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies.
- Support decision-making by providing financial reports and performance analysis.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or ACCA is a plus).
- Minimum 57 years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior role.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
