Job Overview:

A multinational telecommunication company located in Smart Village is seeking to hire Storage Backup Administrator with the following duties:

Storage Management:

  • Administer and support storage systems (SAN) to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Implement storage best practices, including data tiering, snapshots, and replication.
  • Monitor storage utilization, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve storage-related issues, including data corruption and performance degradation.
  • Linux System Administration:
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.).
  • Perform routine system patching and upgrades to maintain system security and integrity.
  • Manage user accounts, file systems, permissions, and services.
  • Configure and monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware/software issues.

Backup and Recovery:

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Veritas NetBackup, or similar).
  • Ensure regular backups are performed, and recovery processes are tested.
  • Develop and maintain backup policies to ensure data protection and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot backup failures and data recovery procedures.

Virtualization:

  • Manage and maintain virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, KVM, etc.).
  • Configure and deploy virtual machines, clusters, and resource pools.
  • Optimize resource allocation and troubleshoot performance issues in virtualized environments.
  • Implement and manage virtual networking, storage, and security features.
  • Infrastructure Monitoring and Support:
  • Monitor infrastructure health using monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds, etc.).
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential issues before they impact services.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for infrastructure-related incidents and service requests.
  • Documentation and Automation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all infrastructure systems and processes.
  • Develop and implement automation scripts sing tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Bash to improve operational efficiency.

Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Collaborate with other teams (e.g., Network, Database, Security) to resolve infrastructure issues and implement solutions.
  • Assist in capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and other strategic initiatives.

Database Management:

  • Administer and maintain databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server) across multiple environments.
  • Perform regular database tuning, optimization, and monitoring to ensure optimal performance.
  • Configure and manage database replication, backups, and restore procedures.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure database availability, security, and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks and data corruption.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in managing infrastructure systems, with strong expertise in storage, Linux, backup, virtualization, and databases.
  • Proficiency in managing storage technologies (SAN, NAS, iSCSI) and backup software (e.g., Veeam, NetBackup).
  • Extensive experience in Linux-based system administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM.
  • Solid experience with databases, including installation, tuning, and maintenance (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) for automation and operational tasks
  • Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or SolarWinds.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a focus on root-cause analysis.
