Job Summary:
The IT Director in banking is responsible for leading the development and implementation of technology strategies that enhance operational efficiency, improve customer experience, and ensure data security. This individual will lead the IT department, manage technology projects, and collaborate with senior leadership to ensure the banks technology infrastructure supports its long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technology Strategy & Leadership:
- Develop and execute the banks IT strategy in alignment with business objectives.
- Lead and manage the IT team, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Work closely with senior executives to ensure technology investments support business goals and drive growth.
- Project Management:
- Oversee IT projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
- Manage technology upgrades, migrations, and integrations with other banking systems.
- Cybersecurity & Risk Management:
- Ensure the security and integrity of the banks information systems.
- Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive data.
- Assess and mitigate risks related to IT infrastructure, including disaster recovery plans.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with banking regulations, including data privacy laws and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies to ensure the bank's systems meet required standards.
- Vendor Management:
- Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
- Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) for IT services and products.
- Innovation & Digital Transformation:
- Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, or cloud computing.
- Implement new systems and platforms to enhance customer experiences, operational efficiency, and business scalability.
- Budgeting & Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the IT departments budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Optimize IT infrastructure and ensure cost-effective technology solutions.
- Support & Training:
- Provide leadership and guidance to IT staff, ensuring continuous professional development and training.
- Ensure 24/7 IT support for critical banking systems and services.
Key Requirements:
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Masters preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in IT leadership roles, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
- Proven track record in managing complex IT projects, including software development, system integration, and cybersecurity.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of banking technology systems (e.g., core banking systems, payment processing systems).
- Expertise in cybersecurity principles, data protection, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with cloud computing, data analytics, and business intelligence platforms.
- Familiarity with infrastructure management and system monitoring tools.
- Leadership & Soft Skills:
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage cross-functional teams and collaborate with senior management.
- Strong problem-solving skills and strategic thinking.
- Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and drive change.
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of financial regulations and the banking industrys unique IT needs.
- Certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) are advantageous.
