Job Title: Food Quality Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Control and Assurance:

    • Develop and implement quality control systems to ensure food products meet internal and external standards.
    • Monitor the production process to ensure products are consistent with quality specifications.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits of the manufacturing facility to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
  2. Compliance and Regulations:

    • Ensure that all food safety regulations (such as FDA, USDA, or other local regulations) are adhered to throughout production.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of food safety laws and regulations and ensure factory compliance.
    • Manage the documentation and reporting of quality control processes, inspections, and audits.
  3. Team Leadership and Training:

    • Supervise and manage the quality control team, ensuring they are properly trained in food safety and quality management systems.
    • Lead regular training sessions to promote best practices in food safety and quality assurance among factory staff.
    • Motivate and ensure the team works efficiently, ensuring all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  4. Product Testing and Analysis:

    • Oversee product testing, including sensory evaluation, chemical testing, and microbiological analysis to detect contaminants or defects.
    • Analyze production data and trends to identify potential quality issues and implement corrective actions as necessary.
    • Implement testing protocols for raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods.
  5. Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions:

    • Identify the root cause of any quality issues and develop strategies to resolve them.
    • Implement corrective actions, track their effectiveness, and follow up as necessary.
  6. Continuous Improvement:

    • Continuously evaluate quality management systems to identify areas for improvement and enhance operational efficiency.
    • Drive initiatives aimed at reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and improving product quality.
    • Lead quality improvement projects and collaborate with other departments, including production, R&D, and logistics.
  7. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of quality control processes, testing results, inspections, and corrective actions.
    • Generate reports for senior management detailing product quality, issues, and improvements.
    • Work with other departments to maintain and update product specifications.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in a food manufacturing environment with a focus on quality control/assurance.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and quality management systems (HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, etc.).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with laboratory testing or microbiological analysis.
  • Certification in food safety or quality management (e.g., SQF, FSSC 22000).
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

This role is crucial in maintaining the quality and safety of food products produced in a factory, ensuring customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
