About the job Senior Tax Accountant
As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of our clients' tax compliance and reporting requirements. You will work closely with our clients to ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns, as well as provide strategic tax planning and advice. This is a full-time, permanent position based in New York City.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses
- Conduct tax research and analysis to ensure compliance with current tax laws and regulations
- Provide guidance and support to clients on tax planning and strategies to minimize tax liabilities
- Review and analyze financial statements to identify potential tax issues and opportunities
- Communicate with clients and tax authorities to resolve any tax-related inquiries or issues
- Keep up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations and implement necessary updates
- Train and mentor junior tax accountants and provide guidance on complex tax issues
- Assist with tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities
- Maintain accurate and organized tax records and documentation
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure tax-related information is accurately reflected in financial statements
- Participate in special tax projects and initiatives as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting, preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and tax preparation software
- Experience with tax research tools such as CCH or RIA is a plus
