Shift Supervisor (Gas Plant / 12hrs)
Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Support for the Operational readiness of the new plant (including walkdowns & punch listing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities, preparing SOPs & routine schedules etc.)
- To manage the activities of the shift to ensure the safe and continuous operation of the plant.
- Achieve shift safety, quality and production goals.
- To resolve manpower allocation issues within each shift effectively
- To ensure the knowledge and skills of the shift members are continually upgraded, and that each shift competency is well manned with adequate back up (Cross stationed training/competency)
- To assume the Operations Managers role in his absence.
- Inform Management of any issues with plant operations that could impact production and/or safety and/or Regulatory requirements.
- To be in charge of overall SHEQ within the plant, and to correct and report any SHEQ related non-compliance issues that occur within the plant.
- Ensure qualified shift members are operating in each unit, and to expedite cross training by systematic planning.
- To carry out all instructions written in the duty logbooks and inter-office correspondence.
- Update Shift Report and ensure all operational routine works and schedules are properly followed, checked, documented and filed with regards to the plant production and operational history.
- To raise and approve Work Orders when deficiencies are identified.
- To approve Safe Work Permits and Job Safety Analysiss before work is performed in the plant.
- To ensure all applicable Standard Operating Procedures are used and followed by the Process Technicians.
- Work closely with the Shift Training Specialist to ensure all Standard Operating Procedures are updated to reflect the actual task performed in the field.
- Assume the Site Incident Controller position during an emergency. Submit Initial Incident Report.
- To immediately call in relevant personnel for support while facing safety, Plant Availability, main products quality or loss related problems.
- Assess team members performance and participate in their Annual Appraisal.
- Ensure all chemical inventories are maintained in the units.
- Coordinate with customers/handlers to ensure products are transported efficiently.
- Communicate closely with the Human Resources department to ensure company/employee needs are met.
- Ensure performance/disciplinary issues are dealt with a timely manner.
- Ensure all environmental controls are in working order. Ensure wastewater, domestic and Hazardous waste, emissions are monitored and managed
Requirements
- Min Diploma in a relevant engineering field with 10 years experience in petrochemical, refinery or other related industry / working with Gasifiers, Air separation units will be much preferred
- Good at Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Must be disciplined to work within a demanding work environment.
- Experience in managing teams and work delegation
- Must have leadership ability and willingness to take on added responsibility.
- Good knowledge of instrumentation, DCS systems and rotating machinery fundamentals.
- Excellent troubleshooting ability.
