Executive Director Position Summary
Position Summary:
Omaha-based nonprofit, Smart Gen Society, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Executive Director (ED) to lead their nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting safe social media practices among youth, families, and educators. The ED will be responsible for guiding the organizations strategic and operational efforts, ensuring the effective delivery of our mission, and managing the organizations programs, staff, and resources.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the ED will play a crucial role in shaping the organizations future growth and sustainability. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and a proven track record in nonprofit management, including expertise in fundraising, community engagement, and organizational development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership by developing and executing the strategic plan for Smart Gen Society, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission, long-term sustainability, and growth objectives. Foster innovation, drive organizational expansion, and adapt to emerging trends to enhance impact and community reach.
- Fundraising Strategy: Develop and execute fundraising strategies to ensure financial stability through budget management and fiscal oversight. Cultivate donor relationships and recruit major revenue partners to enhance special events and fundraising campaigns
- Board Collaboration: Collaborate with the Board of Directors on policy development, strategic planning, and organizational visibility. Provide regular updates and reports.
- Volunteer and Community Engagement: Serve as the public face of Smart Gen Society, building strong relationships with community stakeholders to enhance visibility and impact. Partner with leadership volunteers to recruit and engage high-impact volunteers, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
- Operations and Personnel Management: Lead and develop staff while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture. Oversee daily operations, including program execution, staff management, and administrative functions, ensuring efficiency and alignment with organizational goals.
Daily Functions:
Strategic Leadership:
- Monitor and evaluate progress toward strategic goals, adjusting plans as needed to ensure alignment with the organization's mission and growth objectives.
- Identify emerging trends and opportunities to drive innovation and organizational expansion.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to refine the organization's long-term sustainability strategy.
Fundraising Strategy:
- Regularly engage with donors and potential revenue partners to secure funding and support fundraising campaigns.
- Oversee the development and execution of fundraising events, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
- Ensure effective budget management and financial oversight to maintain organizational stability.
Board Collaboration:
- Prepare and present regular updates to the Board of Directors, providing insights into policy development, organizational strategy, and key initiatives.
- Facilitate board meetings and communicate recommendations for strategic planning and organizational growth.
- Serve as a liaison between board members and the organizations staff to ensure alignment on key objectives.
Volunteer and Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, volunteers, and stakeholders to enhance organizational visibility.
- Actively engage in community events and public forums to represent the organization and expand its network of support.
- Partner with leadership volunteers to recruit and engage high-impact individuals, ensuring accountability and fostering collaboration.
Operations and Personnel Management:
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring program implementation and administrative functions run efficiently.
- Provide leadership to staff through regular coaching, development opportunities, and performance evaluations.
- Manage resources and operational processes to ensure effective execution of programs, projects, and staff management in line with organizational goals.
- Understanding of the theory and practice of social change.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Demonstrated commitment to the organizations mission and community impact.
- Familiarity with fundraising techniques and collaboration with community partners.
- Strong background in financial management, resource development, and philanthropy.
- 5+ years of senior management experience, including successful scaling of performance-based organizations. Experience in managing a result driven team and personnel development.
- Skilled in utilizing social media channels and digital tools to promote initiatives, drive awareness, and foster community growth.
- Proven experience in senior management roles within nonprofit organizations driving fundraising strategy building a pipeline of donor support.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities with experience in public speaking and media relations.
- Bachelors degree (B.S. or B.A.).
Preferred:
- 5+ years of direct client relationship management, donor relationship management.
- Proficiency in leveraging digital media platforms for brand advocacy, content creation, and audience engagement.
- Masters degree in communication, nonprofit management / business, education, social work, mental health or a related field.
- Experience in national expansion of non-profit mission and programs.
- Experience in digital media advocacy, teaching, training, or coaching.
