About the job Candidate Sourcing Specialist
Candidate Sourcing Specialist — Contract / Project-Based / Remote
NEXT RC is a boutique recruiting and consulting firm led by a single managing recruiter with deep client relationships and a reputation for placing exceptional people in mission-driven organizations. We are growing — and we need a skilled sourcing partner to help us keep pace.
This is not a post-and-pray role. We are looking for a sourcing specialist who loves the research, the hunt, and the craft of finding people who weren't necessarily looking to be found. You'll work the front end of the search — identifying, researching, and engaging prospective candidates — then hand off a warm, well-documented lead to the Managing Recruiter, who owns the candidate relationship from that point forward.
It's a defined lane, but it's an important one. The quality of this firm's work starts with the quality of the pipeline you build.
What You'll Do
- Hunt creatively. Research and identify prospective candidates through direct sourcing methods — Boolean search, LinkedIn, professional associations, industry networks, and referrals. Job postings are one tool among many, not the strategy.
- Make first contact. Conduct brief outreach to gauge candidate interest and confirm baseline qualifications — availability, experience level, general alignment with the role. Your job is to warm the lead, not close it.
- Document and deliver. Write tight, compelling candidate summaries and hand off qualified prospects to the Managing Recruiter with everything needed to take the conversation deeper.
- Own your pipeline data. Maintain accurate, thorough records in NEXT's CRM — resumes, outreach notes, candidate status, and any relevant context from your conversations.
- Run without hand-holding. Manage your own sourcing workload independently. Know what's needed, prioritize accordingly, and surface issues or insights proactively — don't wait to be asked.
- Think like a partner. Bring sourcing ideas and channel suggestions to the table. If you see an angle we haven't tried, say so.
Who You Are
- You have hands-on sourcing or recruiting experience, ideally in a search firm or agency environment where quality of candidate — not volume of applications — was the measure of success.
- You are tenacious and creative in finding people. You don't stop at the first page of LinkedIn results.
- You write well. Your outreach gets responses. Your candidate summaries are crisp and useful.
- You are organized without being managed. You build your own systems, meet your own deadlines, and communicate proactively when something changes.
- You are genuinely curious about people — what they've built, what drives them, and what would make them pick up the phone.
- You are comfortable working in a defined scope while understanding the bigger picture. You respect the handoff and trust the process.
- You care about getting it right — not just getting it done.
Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated sourcing experience with strong Boolean search skills across LinkedIn, Google, and industry-specific platforms.
- Ability to write compelling, personalized outreach that earns responses from passive candidates.
- Experience sourcing for director-level or executive roles is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with ATS or CRM platforms; commitment to keeping records accurate and current.
- Exceptional written communication — you can summarize a candidate's background and fit in a paragraph that's actually useful to a decision-maker.
- Background recruiting for nonprofit, association, or mission-driven organizations is genuinely valued.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent searches without daily oversight.
The Details
- Contract, project-based engagement — no office required.
- Location: Omaha, Nebraska strongly preferred. We will consider exceptional candidates outside of Omaha who bring strong regional or industry network depth.
- Compensation: $40–$50/hour depending on experience.
- Hours flex with search volume. Ideal candidates are available for surge periods and comfortable with the natural rhythm of boutique recruiting work.
- You provide your own equipment.
A note on growth: This role is scoped to sourcing today, but NEXT is intentionally building toward a deeper team model. As trust is established and the business grows, there is real opportunity for this engagement to expand in scope, responsibility, and depth of partnership. We're looking for someone who wants to grow with us — not just fill a contract slot.
To Apply
Submit your resume and a brief note — not a cover letter, just two or three sentences — about what draws you to sourcing specifically and what makes you the right partner for NEXT.
