Subtitling for Multiple Languages [Freelance]

Multilingual Connections is seeking subtitle translators who are proficient in multiple languages for a possible project. Kindly refer to the details below for further information.
The client is an independent federal agency and its parent organization, which provides trusted and objective news and information in 48 languages to a weekly audience of more than 326 million people around the world.
As part of its mission to deliver to its global audiences impactful and unbiased information in the most accessible form possible, this organization and its language services also produce and broadcast a large number of long-form (10-120 minutes) multimedia products every year. These include short and feature-length documentary films, explainer-like videos, and investigative stories on a wide range of topics. In particular, the agencys long-form content is a weekly documentary series that presents global issues through the perspective of the human experience. The series offers new ways to connect and empower international audiences through the dynamic telling of human-interest stories. This documentary content is available on the organizations broadcasting platforms, with a primary focus on digital delivery through a number of OTT platforms, such as a streaming app and social media channels, such as YouTube and Facebook.
Volume:
It is not possible to provide exact volumes per language per month. The client generally produces four short documentaries per month, with each documentary being around 10-20 minutes long. Occasionally a feature-length documentary (30 to 70 minutes) will also need translating.
What were looking for:
- Individuals with proven subtitling experience in Dari, Pashto, Kurdish, Serbo-Croatian, French-African, Portuguese-African, and Somali
- Experience must include:
Translation of subtitles.
Timecoding in subtitle editors and creation of SRT and VTT files.
Knowledge of subtitle rules such as character limits, reading speed, time on screen, etc.
Basic troubleshooting of subtitle files.
- English proficiency.
- Experience with Google suite tools: Drive, Docs, Sheets, Meets, etc.
What you will do:
- Create a monolingual caption file in SRT and VTT format if the video is in your language.
- Or translate an English caption template (from source video in English) in SRT/VTT format into your language.
- Or translate an English caption template (translated from a source video in another language) in SRT/VTT format into your language.
Please note that the job is open to anyone around the world and it is a fully remote freelance position.
