Job Overview

The Security Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all security operations within the organisation, developing and implementing security strategies, policies, and procedures, managing security personnel and service providers, safeguarding people, property, and assets, and ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, company, and Occupational Health and Safety requirements.

Objectives of this Role

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve security strategies, policies, standard operating procedures, and site-specific controls aligned to business needs
  • Lead and manage day-to-day security operations to ensure effective guarding, access control, surveillance, incident response, and protection of people, property, and assets
  • Conduct security risk assessments, threat analyses, workplace hazard identification, and compliance audits, and implement corrective and preventative actions to mitigate identified risks
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, PSIRA requirements, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable legislation, and internal health and safety standards
  • Drive OHS awareness by ensuring security staff, contractors, and relevant stakeholders follow safe work practices, emergency procedures, and reporting protocols
  • Manage, coach, and develop security personnel to maintain high levels of discipline, readiness, professionalism, and service delivery
  • Oversee emergency preparedness and coordinate responses to incidents, breaches, alarms, emergencies, evacuations, injuries, and business disruptions swiftly and effectively
  • Support incident investigation, reporting, and root-cause analysis for security and safety-related events, and ensure closure of corrective actions
  • Collaborate with internal departments, external service providers, and law enforcement where required to strengthen overall site security, OHS compliance, and operational continuity
  • Monitor security systems, equipment, PPE requirements, and resources to ensure operational effectiveness, maintenance, safe use, and cost-efficient utilization
  • Maintain accurate security records, reports, incident logs, training records, inspection findings, and management updates to support decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Promote a safe, secure, healthy, and injury-free working environment through strict adherence to health and safety standards

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12
  • PSIRA registration, preferably Grade A
  • Relevant qualification in Security Management, Risk Management, Policing,
  • Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field will be advantageous
  • Health and Safety training or relevant OHS certification will be advantageous
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in a security environment, including at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role
  • Experience in leading security teams, investigations, incident management, security systems administration, and workplace safety compliance
  • Proven experience in implementing standard operating procedures, risk controls, compliance measures, and emergency preparedness processes
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related workplace safety requirements
  • Must be based in Pretoria and/or surrounding suburbs and accustomed to shift work

  • Ability to identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement control measures
  • Ability to conduct investigations, security audits, safety inspections, and incident root-cause analysis
  • Knowledge of emergency evacuation procedures, incident reporting, PPE requirements, and safe work practices
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and coordination skills
  • Strong decision-making ability with sound judgement in high-pressure situations
  • Delegation, conflict resolution, and disciplinary management skills
  • Ability to work cross functionally, manage multiple priorities, and drive operational improvement
  • Budget awareness and cost-control capability
