Job Overview

The Attendant is responsible for maintaining a clean, hygienic, organised and professional environment across retail, warehouse, workshop, office, canteen and common areas. The role ensures that all facilities are consistently maintained to a high standard, supporting employee wellbeing, customer experience, health and safety compliance, and operational efficiency.

The successful candidate is reliable, trustworthy, presentable, detail-orientated and able to work independently while maintaining strict standards of cleanliness, confidentiality and workplace security.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric (Grade 12) advantageous
  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience in a commercial, retail, warehouse, workshop or office cleaning environment
  • Experience cleaning large facilities and high-traffic operational environments will be advantageous
  • Must reside in Pretoria and/or surrounding suburbs
  • Must have contactable references from previous employers
  • Must have a clear criminal record
  • Must have a clear ITC record
  • Must be willing to undergo background verification, criminal screening and reference checks
  • Must possess sober habits and demonstrate good attendance and reliability

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of cleaning processes, products and equipment
  • Understanding of workplace hygiene, housekeeping and sanitation standards
  • Ability to identify and report maintenance, safety or security concerns
  • Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily cleaning schedules
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely and responsibly
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professional conduct requirements
  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual cleaning duties
  • Reliable, trustworthy and security conscious

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards throughout office, retail, workshop, warehouse and common areas
  • Clean and sanitise kitchens, canteens, ablution facilities and staff rest areas
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust and wash designated areas according to cleaning schedules
  • Empty waste bins and ensure appropriate disposal of waste materials
  • Replenish consumables including soap, paper towels, toilet paper and refreshments where required
  • Assist with maintaining neat and organised storerooms, cleaning cupboards and common areas
  • Identify and report maintenance defects, safety hazards and security concerns to the Facilities Supervisor
  • Ensure meeting rooms, reception areas and customer-facing environments are maintained to a professional standard
  • Safeguard company assets, equipment and consumables under their control
  • Support ad hoc housekeeping and facility-related requirements as directed by management

Compliance, Safety and Risk

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and housekeeping standards
  • Comply with health, safety and hygiene requirements at all times
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding company information, facilities, assets and operations
  • Immediately report suspicious activity, security breaches or unsafe conditions
  • Use cleaning equipment, chemicals and personal protective equipment in accordance with company guidelines
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times
  • Support a safe, secure and compliant working environment across all company facilities
