Tax Administrator

 Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong Tax Administrator to manage the full corporate tax compliance function for a diverse portfolio of companies across various industries.

The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of South African corporate tax legislation, strong organisational skills, and the ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work within a deadline-driven environment.

This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing corporate tax returns, managing SARS engagements, ensuring compliance with all statutory obligations, and supporting Tax Managers on technical and advisory matters. The position also involves client communication, workflow coordination, and mentoring junior team members to support overall departmental efficiency.

While the primary focus is corporate tax, the role will also provide exposure to individual and trust tax matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full corporate tax compliance process for a portfolio of companies across multiple industries
  • Prepare and review corporate income tax returns and supporting schedules
  • Prepare and calculate provisional tax submissions for corporate entities
  • Apply knowledge of VAT, PAYE, and Dividends Tax where applicable
  • Handle SARS engagements, including verifications, audits, objections, and technical queries
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client and company tax records
  • Monitor and manage all tax-related deadlines to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Liaise with clients, SARS, and internal teams to resolve queries and obtain required information
  • Identify risks, discrepancies, or irregularities and escalate complex matters where necessary
  • Support Tax Managers with technical tax matters, tax planning, and corporate tax reviews
  • Review work completed by junior staff and provide guidance and mentorship
  • Contribute to improving workflows, processes, and overall departmental efficiency
  • Assist with basic individual and trust tax matters when required

  • Proficiency in SARS eFiling
  • Experience with Greatsoft Tax is advantageous

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in corporate tax
  • Registered with a recognised professional body and SARS as a Tax Practitioner
  • Strong technical knowledge of corporate tax, provisional tax, VAT, and PAYE
  • Proven experience preparing and submitting income tax returns
  • Proficiency in SARS eFiling and related tax systems
  • Relevant qualification in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
