Operation Improvement Manager

 Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operations Improvement Manager to join our fast-paced FMCG distribution centre. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in industrial engineering and demonstrate a proven track record in managing operations and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role is critical to ensuring efficient, cost-effective and high-quality distribution operations while fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

1.Operational Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the distribution centre, within department allocated (Inbound, Picking, Outbound, Inventory)
  • Manage and optimize all aspects of warehousing, including receiving, put-a-way, picking, Loading and outbound processes.
  • Audit, review and adhere to operational SOPs and procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure seamless operations and effective communication.

2.Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational performance and reducing costs.
  • Utilize industrial engineering principles to analyze workflow, identify bottlenecks and implement solutions.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and process audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement among staff through training and development programs.

3.Team Leadership and Development:

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors and frontline staff to achieve operational goals.
  • Set performance targets and provide regular feedback to ensure accountability.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations and company policies.

4.Inventory and Supply Chain Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure accurate stock control to meet customer demand.
  • Implement best practices in inventory management to minimize shrinkage and maximize efficiency.

5.Performance Metrics and Reporting:

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, including productivity, quality and cost metrics.
  • Utilize data analytics to drive informed decision-making and strategic planning.

6.Technology and Systems Optimization:

  • Leverage warehouse management systems (WMS) and other technologies to streamline operations. Preferably SAP EWM and ONE NETWORK.
  • Identify and implement new technologies and tools to enhance operational capabilities and efficiency.
  • Ensure systems are properly maintained and staff are trained on their use.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management within a distribution centre, preferably in the FMCG sector.
  • Proven track record of leading continuous improvement initiatives and driving operational excellence.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant technologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in warehouse operations.
