Product Owner / Digital Product Owner

 Job Description:

We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking Product Owner to drive the commercialization and expansion of our digital platform. The ideal candidate will have a proven history in digital product management, revenue growth, and go-to-market strategies. This role requires a commercially focused individual with the ability to innovate, develop strategic plans, and execute growth initiatives that enhance revenue, customer engagement, and platform scalability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The responsibilities for this role include developing and executing a commercial strategy to expand the platforms user base and increase revenue. 
  • The Product Owner will define and implement pricing strategies to optimize profitability, while also driving customer acquisition and retention by enhancing the digital user journey. 
  • They will identify new revenue streams through product innovation and collaborate closely with technology teams to prioritize platform features that add commercial value. 
  • Staying ahead of industry trends and competitors through market research is also key, along with managing P&L responsibilities to ensure the platform meets revenue and profitability targets. 
  • The role also involves developing business cases and financial models for platform investments, working alongside marketing teams to support platform positioning and demand generation, and ensuring regulatory compliance in all monetization efforts.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A Matric qualification is required, along with a BCom in Marketing or a related field. 
  • A certification in the Fundamentals of Digital Marketing would be an advantage. 
  • 5 years of experience in digital product management or commercialization
  • 3 years of experience in platform monetization strategies
  • 3 years of P&L responsibility
  • Experience in subscription models, e-commerce, or marketplace platforms is a plus
  • Knowledge of business intelligence and data-driven decision-making
  • The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of various revenue models, such as subscription services, freemium models, transactional revenue, and strategic partnerships for effective platform commercialization. 
  • They will have expertise in go-to-market strategies, including launching digital products and services, defining compelling value propositions, and identifying key growth channels. 
  • Proficiency in data analytics and performance tracking tools like Google Analytics or Power BI is essential for measuring platform performance and user engagement.
  • A strong background in optimizing customer experiences, retention strategies, and conversion rate optimization (CRO) will be key to success in this role. 
  • The candidate should also have experience collaborating on product development, particularly within Agile methodologies, working with UX/UI teams and developers to enhance platform functionality. 
  • They should have a solid grasp of monetization and pricing strategies, developing pricing models and revenue streams based on market demand and competitive insights.
  • Additionally, experience in business development and negotiating commercial agreements to form strategic partnerships will be crucial in driving the platforms growth.
