- Saturdays: 09:00 13:00
- Required to be on-site 15 minutes before shift starts
Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Buyer to join our retail stationery team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the retail sector. This individual will be responsible for sourcing, selecting, and purchasing stationery products that meet customer demand while maintaining optimal stock levels and ensuring profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full buying process from supplier selection to product delivery
- Source and procure stationery products aligned with market trends and customer needs
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery timelines with suppliers
- Maintain strong relationships with both existing and potential suppliers
- Monitor and analyse sales trends, stock levels, and turnover to inform purchasing decisions
- Create and manage purchase orders and ensure accurate and timely delivery of stock
- Collaborate with the store manager and sales staff to forecast demand and avoid stockouts or overstocking
- Ensure product pricing supports business profitability while remaining competitive
- Conduct regular competitor and market analysis to keep offerings relevant and competitive
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier contracts
- Resolve supplier issues related to delivery, quality, and returns
- Oversee product merchandising and ensure optimal in-store presentation of stock
- Support promotional activities and seasonal campaigns through effective stock planning
- Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies and external regulations
- Provide regular reports and insights on procurement performance and stock movement
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years' buying experience, preferably in a retail environment
- Strong knowledge of stationery products and retail trends is advantageous
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and inventory management systems
- Comfortable working retail hours, including Saturdays
- Must be punctual and dependable, arriving 15 minutes before shift start
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong numerical and analytical abilities
Preferred:
- Experience with POS and inventory software preferred
- Background in merchandising or stock planning
