CCTV Installation Technician
Job Description:
To install, maintain, and repair CCTV and related security systems across client sites and company premises, ensuring high system performance, reliability, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Delivery
- Install, configure, and commission CCTV systems (analog, IP, and hybrid) with 98% installation accuracy
- Diagnose and resolve faults during service calls, achieving a 90% first-time fix rate
- Conduct post-installation testing to ensure 99% system uptime within the first 30 days
- Install and maintain:
- DVRs/NVRs
- PTZ cameras
- Infrared and thermal cameras
- Configure and troubleshoot network components:
- IP addressing, subnetting
- Routers, switches, PoE systems
- Set up secure remote access (VPNs, port forwarding, DDNS)
2. Operational Efficiency
- Complete installations within an average of 4 hours per site (depending on complexity)
- Deliver 10–15 installations or service jobs per week
- Ensure efficient cabling, conduit installation, and cable management
- Accurately log all work completed and maintain up-to-date job records
3. Compliance & Documentation
- Submit complete and accurate job cards and reports for 100% of jobs
- Comply with:
- PSIRA regulations
- Sectoral Determination requirements
- Client-specific policies
- Maintain zero safety incidents by adhering to OHS and electrical safety standards
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, vehicles, and equipment
4. Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide clear communication and professional customer service
- Explain system functionality and resolve client queries
- Collaborate with supervisors, project managers, and technical teams on escalations
- Maintain strong, professional client relationships on-site
5. Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with CCTV technologies and surveillance software
- Share knowledge within the team and support junior technicians
- Participate in training, toolbox talks, and compliance workshops

Qualifications & Experience
- Matric / Grade 12 (minimum)
- Relevant technical certification (e.g., PSIRA, CompTIA Network+)
- Minimum 2 years' experience in CCTV installation and maintenance
- Valid driver's license

- IP addressing and subnetting
- LAN/WAN setup and troubleshooting

Cabling & Infrastructure
- Installation and termination of Cat5e/Cat6 and coaxial cables
