Junior Accountant
Job Description:
The Accountant will play a key role in supporting the finance team by performing essential financial and accounting tasks. Responsibilities include bookkeeping, account management, financial data reconciliation, and assisting with the preparation of financial reports. The ideal candidate will demonstrate precision, numerical proficiency, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Maintain the General Ledger, ensuring monthly reconciliations with Sub Ledgers
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes and assist with annual audits
- Manage the Fixed Asset Register
- Handle cashbook and payment processes
- Reconcile intercompany loans and transactions
- Perform monthly VAT and PAYE reconciliations
- Prepare monthly financial reports for management
- Contribute to the development and improvement of accounting systems
- Support the development, documentation, and enhancement of business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls
- Perform additional accounting duties and provide support to staff as needed
Qualifications and Education
- Minimum BCom Degree or equivalent accounting qualification
- Completed articles
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role
- Caseware experience (essential)
- Experience with SAGE Intacct (advantageous)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (experience with other accounting software is a plus)
