Senior Payroll Specialist


Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing & Administration:

  • Process payroll for employees accurately and on time, including salaries, bonuses, deductions, and benefits.
  • Ensure payroll calculations comply with IFRS, labor laws, tax laws, and company policies.
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including employee data, salaries, deductions, and benefits.
  • Handle employee salary adjustments, bonuses, overtime, and commission payments.
  • Coordinate with HR for new hires, terminations, and salary changes.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure payroll processes align with IFRS standards for financial reporting and accruals.
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll journal entries and reports for financial statement accuracy.
  • Calculate and submit payroll-related taxes, social security, and other statutory contributions.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, labor regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist in external and internal audits related to payroll, providing required documentation.

Financial Analysis & Reconciliation:

  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts, ensuring accuracy in general ledger postings.
  • Work closely with finance teams to support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Analyze payroll variances, trends, and provide financial insights on employee costs.

Systems & Process Improvement:

  • Maintain payroll software and ensure data integrity.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support system enhancements, automation, and integration with accounting systems.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in an IFRS-compliant environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in payroll systems and ERP software.
    • Strong knowledge of IFRS standards related to payroll and employee benefits.
    • Expertise in payroll taxation, labor laws, and social security regulations.
    • Advanced Excel skills for payroll analysis and reporting.
