The Underwriting Officer is responsible for evaluating, authorizing, and recommending the approval of unsecured credit loans. This role involves analyzing applicants' financial status, creditworthiness, and risk factors to ensure sound lending decisions. The Underwriting Officer will collaborate with internal teams and borrowers to maintain a seamless lending process while upholding company policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and approve unsecured credit loans within designated authority limits, referring cases beyond limits to senior management.
  • Analyze applicants' financial status, credit history, and property evaluations to determine loan feasibility.
  • Advise borrowers and branches on financial status, repayment methods, and loan options.
  • Obtain and compile applicants' credit histories, corporate financial statements, and other relevant financial documents.
  • Review and update credit and loan files in the system to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with junior underwriters to review submitted documents and enhance efficiency in achieving lending targets.
  • Prepare and submit daily and monthly loan approval reports to VCGMA.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, credit guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for improving credit underwriting processes.

Job Specification:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of credit underwriting experience, preferably in the banking or financial sector.
  • Strong knowledge of lending procedures, financial analysis, and credit risk assessment.
  • Proficiency in loan evaluation, financial documentation review, and credit decision-making.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and customers.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple loan applications efficiently.
  • Proficiency in financial software and credit assessment tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
