General Accounting Manager

 Job Description:

The ideal role of this General Accounting Manager is to manage. Oversee, supervise, track, and evaluate day-to-day activities. She/He shall establish financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, monitoring, analyzing, verifying, and reporting information. She/He shall work closely with our Reporting and Analytics team. This position reports to the Head of Financial Accounting.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Contribute to establishing and developing the Accounting Manual,
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles,
  • Review of Chart of Accounts on a quarterly basis, and draw up the purpose of each leaf GLs purposes/usage, and organize and clean up the unnecessary leaf GL,
  • Be the key manager of maintenance of the Chart of Accounts, as per Target Operating Model (TOM),
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Finance Function, including:
    1) month and end-year process (accruals, provision and preparation of
    2) Audit Schedules to take over from other teams),
    3) general ledger,
    4) arranging to make sure individual lead schedules for all general ledger
    5) accounts are prepared for the month-end balances, and to make sure that the monthly lead schedules are signed off by the Head of Financial Accounting.
    6) Ensuring that Finance Functions Bank Reconciliation Statement is prepared monthly and signed-off by Head of Financial Accounting,
    7) payroll and utilities,
    8) cash/bank forecasting for payments,
    9) liaison with external auditors (Regulators/Statutory) and internal auditors and to answer their queries, while auditors are on-site visit at the Bank.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data to produce financial reports and draft statements for audit purposes, including relevant schedules.
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits successfully.
  • Provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Drive enhancements in systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
  • Assign projects and guide staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Achieve financial accounting objectives.
  • Maintain accurate fiscal files and records to document financial transactions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve general accounting processes across Head Office, VCs, and branches.
  • Oversee centralized functions such as payroll journal entry processing, ensuring adequate staff training.
  • Take ownership of identifying and centralizing repetitive tasks across HO, VCs, and branches.
  • Support any other ad-hoc finance-related activities as required.

JOB SPECIFICATION

  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with a CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification preferred. 
  • A minimum of 5 - 10 years of relevant accounting experience is required, including at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role. 
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards such as IFRS and local GAAP, with hands-on experience in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills, is essential. 
  • The ideal candidate should demonstrate leadership in managing teams, audits, and financial reporting, with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills are required, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, auditors, and senior management.
