Head of Trade Business Unit
Job Description:
The role holder is accountable for the design and implementation of distinctive and value creating agendas to drive the continuous growth of this Business Units Economic Profit (EP), profit & loss and balance sheet performance. This is achieved by providing leadership and strategic direction to the Trade Business Unit. The role holder is responsible for directing continuous product and process development and ensuring the successful implementation of the Trade Business, the relevant FX remittance activities and Wholesale deposit to deliver increasing customer satisfaction, profitability and the development of strategic relationships with key clients. The role holder is also responsible for supporting the banks strategies & initiatives to provide an engaging digital customer onboarding experience and drive the usage of mobile and digital applications, in order to achieve economic and social development in Myanmar through nation-wide financial inclusion.
Description
- Leads and executes the Business Units plans for structuring highly relevant and innovative financial solutions to deepen account adoption and to reach more customers at lower cost, in line with the overall banks strategy of driving nation-wide financial inclusion
- Charts the growth of the Business Unit by designing, implementing and evaluating distinctive and value-creating agendas to define the go-to market strategy and products to ensure achievement of targets and objectives
- Builds strong networks and maintains good working relationships with internal and external partners and customers to obtain an overview of the current business climate and trends to ensure positive and continuous growth in customers and profitability
- Establishes, maintains, and revises policies, procedures and infrastructure, within the Business Unit that are fit-for-purpose and enables the growth in market penetration and profits by enhancing product delivery and customer satisfaction
- Recommends and monitors implementation of market penetration and growth strategies through activities such as competitive pricing and development of new products to maximise profits and reinforce the bank's market share
- Establishes and manages strategic relationships with clients to retain and promote profitable client relationship through the delivery of best-in-class Trade Finance products and services to clients
- Coordinates with internal stakeholders like Local Corporate, International Corporate, SME, Treasury & Financial Institution to understand the ever changing requirements of the clients and to drive product innovation and development to capture new market opportunities based on current and future client needs
- Works closely with and provides guidance to the sales team throughout the sales process from client opportunity planning, client meetings, proposal preparation & negotiation, and ultimately deal closing to ensure an efficient sales process in order to achieve superior business results
- Gathers client insights and feedbacks and collaborates closely with the Product team to seek continuously improvement in products and services to strengths the banks competitive advantage
- Ensures newly developed trade products and services adhere to the highest standards of compliance of local, regional, and international regulations in order to minimise compliance issues and risks
- Grows the banks reputation and customer awareness in line with branding and marketing strategy by aligning market strategies and collaborating with Marketing and other Business Units
- Monitor and manage the processing of inward and outward remittances, import/export documentation, and trade settlements
- Ensure efficient operations while adhering to strict timelines, accurate documentation, and service-level agreements (SLAs)
- Plans, manages and drives effective and efficient delivery of Technology initiatives to assist the Business Unit in achieving exceptional business results
- Collaborates proactively with Human Resource to continuously increase competency within the Business Unit to meet future organisations needs through the development and recruitment of talent
- Collaborates with the Finance Function in developing relevant measurable performance metrics for the Business Unit, and proactively tracks performance against the metrics to ensure fiscal control, profitability and financial feasibility of the Business Unit
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years banking experience in Trade Finance Operations, Sales or Products, or Client relationship management. Experience in Branch and Cash Operations is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years division or team management experience.
- Strong leadership characteristics/skills
- Ability in business planning & execution
- Willing to accept and work under challenges
- Bachelor degree in Commerce, Economics, Banking & Finance; and a master degree is a plus
