About the Role:

Our clients are looking for a hands on production engineer to join our team in a precision machining and foundry
production environment. As the company grows, this is new role is designed to alleviate pressure on the MD and
production supervisor; merging aspects of both roles into a hands on support role on the shopfloor.

Additional Scope to provide backup and cover for processes/staff.

  • Coordinate logistics with couriers and customers and dedicated vehicles.
  • Process goods receipts into the factory.
  • Enforce Health and Safety precautions.
  • Liaise with customers on production dates and deliveries

Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM 3:30 PM

Friday 7:00 AM -12:30PM

Key Duties:

  • Daily Operations: Schedule and plan daily operations, ensuring production stays on track.
  • Production Management: Resolve issues on the shop floor to ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Material Oversight: Handle purchasing of raw materials and fasteners for production.
  • Subcontract Coordination: Manage subcontract machining and processes.
  • Quality Control: Perform end-of-line quality inspections, preparing reports and certifications.
  • NDT Inspections: Undertake ultrasonic and dye penetrant testing (training provided).
  • Machining Operations: Hands-on involvement with machining operations, particularly with XYZ mills and Siemens 828D.
  • Breakdown Management: Respond to machine breakdowns and liaise with subcontractors for repairs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of continuous improvement in the factory.
  • Staff Management: Supervise and support production personnel, managing recruitment, training, and performance.
  • Customer Liaison: Coordinate logistics and communicate directly with customers regarding production schedules and deliveries.

Key Requirements

Experience: Minimum 3 years in a production environment, with leadership experience.

Machining Expertise: Must have experience as a machinist, preferably with milling knowledge in a precision machining setting.

Software Proficiency: SolidWorks (or ability to learn quickly) for designing jigs, fixtures, and sketches.

Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to drive a culture of excellence and teamwork.

Autonomy: Comfortable working independently, with the ability to manage

day-to-day operations and take responsibility for all aspects of the production process.

Problem-Solving: Analytical, proactive, and risk-aware, with a sharp eye for potential issues and ways to mitigate them.

Continuous Improvement: Experience in lean manufacturing, 5S, SMED, and other process optimization methodologies.

Quality & Safety: A sound understanding of quality standards, health and safety regulations, and best practices.

Software: Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems.
