About the Role
In this role you’ll wear two hats: part execution expert, part trusted advisor. On one hand you’ll handle complex financial reporting, tax returns, VAT, management accounts and compliance duties. On the other you’ll serve as the key point of contact for a portfolio of clientsbuilding relationships, understanding their business drivers, offering insights, and guiding them on the path ahead. You’ll lead by example, mentor more junior team members, and help shape how the practice delivers to its clients. This isn’t just filing tax returnsit’s about adding value, telling the story behind the numbers, and being the go-to person for clients who expect more than the standard.

Key Responsibilities
This is a client-facing role where you will be responsible for building trusted relationships through regular communication, proactive support, and tailored advice.
Review work prepared by junior staff and offer mentorship to support their development
Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance client experience
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and deadlines
Prepare financial statements in compliance with UK accounting standards (FRS 105, FRS 102 1A, and full FRS 102).
Maintain and update bookkeeping records on Xero, Sage Line 50, and other cloud platforms
Process financial transactions, reconcile accounts, and ensure accuracy in the general ledger
Assist in financial reporting, trend analysis, and management accounts reporting
Manage VAT workings, reconciliations, and VAT return preparation
Knowledge of UK tax
Payroll experience is an advantage
Audit experience would be a plus
Stay up to date with accounting principles, tax regulations, and industry best practices
Manage a portfolio of business clients, providing accounting, tax, and advisory services
What You'll Bring
Proven experience in accountancy within practice
Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in managing client relationships
Strong knowledge of tax and accounting standards (ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent preferred)
