Job Opportunity: Senior Costs Lawyer/Negotiator
Location: Remote
Salary: £35,000 £60,000 (DOE)
Job Type: Full-time or Part-time options available
I'm currently working in partnership with Medical Solicitors, a highly respected Clinical Negligence law firm known for its client-first approach, Lexcel accreditation, and award-winning team. With offices in Sheffield, York, and Hull, theyre now seeking a Senior Costs Lawyer/Negotiator to join their growing team.

About the Role
Youll play a pivotal role in supporting fee-earners on all aspects of legal costs. Depending on whether you join full-time or part-time, the scope of bill drafting may vary (external support available as needed). This is a great opportunity for someone who is confident in managing their own caseload and contributing to a collaborative, professional team.
Key Responsibilities:

Drafting N260 statements of costs and risk assessments

Preparing Precedents H, T, S, Q, Z, and initiating detailed assessment proceedings

Negotiating costs and issuing costs proceedings where appropriate

Drafting bills for inter partes detailed assessment (more so in the full-time post)

Meeting WIP targets and working to case deadlines
What We're Looking For

7+ years of experience in costs work (preferably claimant personal injury or clinical negligence)

Strong working knowledge of CPR and the detailed assessment process

Proven ability to draft Bills of Costs, budgets, and related costs documentation

Experience with Proclaim and CostsMaster advantageous

Legal qualification preferred but not essential

Confident working independently in a busy legal team
