Job Opportunity: Senior Costs Lawyer/Negotiator
Location: Remote
Salary: £35,000 £60,000 (DOE)
Job Type: Full-time or Part-time options available

I'm currently working in partnership with Medical Solicitors, a highly respected Clinical Negligence law firm known for its client-first approach, Lexcel accreditation, and award-winning team. With offices in Sheffield, York, and Hull, theyre now seeking a Senior Costs Lawyer/Negotiator to join their growing team.

About the Role

Youll play a pivotal role in supporting fee-earners on all aspects of legal costs. Depending on whether you join full-time or part-time, the scope of bill drafting may vary (external support available as needed). This is a great opportunity for someone who is confident in managing their own caseload and contributing to a collaborative, professional team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting N260 statements of costs and risk assessments

  • Preparing Precedents H, T, S, Q, Z, and initiating detailed assessment proceedings

  • Negotiating costs and issuing costs proceedings where appropriate

  • Drafting bills for inter partes detailed assessment (more so in the full-time post)

  • Meeting WIP targets and working to case deadlines

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in costs work (preferably claimant personal injury or clinical negligence)

  • Strong working knowledge of CPR and the detailed assessment process

  • Proven ability to draft Bills of Costs, budgets, and related costs documentation

  • Experience with Proclaim and CostsMaster advantageous

  • Legal qualification preferred but not essential

  • Confident working independently in a busy legal team
