City Management Director

 Job Description:

The City Management Director (Head of Township Management) is responsible for the overall leadership, strategy, and execution of all township management activities. This role will oversee the operational, financial, and administrative functions required to ensure the smooth functioning of the township's infrastructure, utilities, safety, and community services. The Director will collaborate with local authorities, contractors, and internal teams to foster sustainable development, promote a high quality of life for residents, and ensure that the townships operations align with best practices in urban management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:

    • Develop and implement long-term strategies for township growth, sustainability, and service excellence.
    • Provide visionary leadership to the township management team, driving continuous improvements and innovation.
    • Lead efforts to maintain the townships reputation as a safe, clean, and vibrant community.
  • Operations Management:

    • Oversee the management of township infrastructure, including roads, public spaces, utilities (water, electricity, waste management), security, and environmental services.
    • Ensure the effective operation of community services such as recreational facilities, transportation systems, and safety services.
    • Manage relationships with third-party vendors, contractors, and service providers for township operations.
  • Financial Management:

    • Prepare and manage the townships operating budget, ensuring the efficient use of financial resources.
    • Monitor expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure all activities align with financial objectives.
    • Collaborate with finance teams to prepare regular financial and operational reports for stakeholders.
  • Community Engagement:

    • Serve as the main point of contact for residents, addressing concerns and ensuring a high level of customer service.
    • Facilitate community meetings and surveys to gauge resident satisfaction and address issues related to township management.
    • Build strong relationships with local government, civic organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure the townships needs and interests are represented.
  • Compliance & Governance:

    • Ensure that all township operations comply with local, state, and national regulations.
    • Implement and maintain policies, procedures, and standards that promote good governance and community development.
    • Conduct regular reviews of safety, environmental, and legal compliance within the township's operations.
  • Team Management:

    • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of managers responsible for various aspects of township operations.
    • Create a positive work environment that fosters teamwork, accountability, and excellence.
    • Develop succession plans and career development programs for key team members.


Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in city management, township management, urban development, or a related field.
    • Have experience managing township (Minimum 10,000 ha)
    • Proven track record in overseeing large-scale infrastructure and service delivery.
    • Experience managing budgets, financial planning, and resource allocation for townships or similar environments.
  • Skills:

    • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to oversee cross-functional teams.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with residents, government officials, and service providers.
    • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess operational performance and make data-driven decisions.
