Industrial Engineering Manager (IE)
Job Description:
Role Purpose:
- Responsible for planning and designing industrial processes that determine the efficient of operations and workflow and recommends methods for optimum utilization of production facilities and personnel.
- Act as facilitator for disseminating awareness and implementation of continuous improvement activity
- Lead manufacturing productivity projects in achieving financial benefit as well as improvement of Key Performance Indicator
Main Duties:
1. Provide and update Industrial Engineering data in manufacturing process
- calculate cycle time of process in each workstation
- calculate people capacity to handle a process/machine
- evaluate capacity of each workstation in annual basis
- set working standard of each workstation
- analyse gap between standard & achievement
2. Lead continuous improvement projects in achieving manufacturing productivity target
- organize manufacturing team to determine potential improvement in each KPI areas
- team formation and project assignment
- facilitate and monitor team improvement progress and coordinate with respective parties
3. Develop continuous improvement practice within manufacturing team, establish effective continuous improvement and suggestion system.
- conduct regular meeting to closely monitor the proress of improvement implementation
- set a regular direct discussion with operative team on continuous improvement during Kaizen Day
- conduct improvement recognition event to raise awareness among employees
4. Ensure standard operation procedure are updated and followed
- conduct regular working instruction audit
- liaise with manufacturing team for update and audit follow up
5, Lead training activities to improve employee skill and capability
- lead team of trainers on new employee training
- conduct multi skill training to enhance flexibility in shop floor operation
- organize training for employee on Lean and continuous improvement themes
- coordinate trainers and department coordinator to conduct part analysis training
6. Lead bobbin management to ensure availability and support to production
- develop new vendor for bobbin fabrication and bobbin repair
- establish yearly bobbin repair and purchasing plan
- oversee processes in bobbin repair either prior to dispatch or upon bobbin receiving from vendor
- monitor weekly bobbin segregation and feedback for necessary improvement to prevent broken bobbin
7.Lead Zero Waste to Landfill program as waste fighter coordinator for Pleret site
- assess waste bin availability and service coverage on all areas
- conduct campaign and continuous education of waste awareness and segregation to all employee
- liaise with waste recycling vendor to ensure timely waste dispatch from the site
- establish waste audit team to monitor daily waste segregation by user
- train outsource team for organic waste handling by composting
Health, Safety & Environmental Participations
- Actively participate in all H&S and Environmental programs.
- Use appropriate PPE as designated area.
- Report any safety or environmental incidents, including accidents, near misses, unsafe actions, and unsafe conditions.
- Implementing all activity in their department in accordance with the environmental policy and developing corrective action plans with ECCR Team when needed.
Authorities :
- Approve IE data updates and workstation standards.
- Authorize continuous improvement projects and team assignments.
- Validate SOP audits and corrective actions.
- Approve training plans and resource allocation.
- Authorize bobbin repair and purchasing within budget.
- Approve waste management initiatives and vendor engagement.
General Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in footwear industry.
- Strong knowledge of production planning, capacity planning, and line balancing.
- Experience in process improvement, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiar with time study, work measurement, and productivity analysis.
- Able to analyze production flow and optimize manpower utilization.
- Good understanding of quality control processes and cost efficiency analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, reporting) and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and able to coordinate with cross-functional teams (Production, QA, PPIC, Maintenance).
- Willing to work in a factory environment and handle operational challenges.
- Fluent in English.
- Minimum Lean Six Sigma Green belt holder is a plus
