About this role:
The Senior Account Executive is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and managing the performance of the offshore Batam team. This role ensures that financial transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, and reported in compliance with accounting standards. The Senior Account Executive will serve as a liaison between the onshore finance team and the offshore team, ensuring smooth communication, coordination, and execution of tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Account Management and Oversight:
- Oversee and ensure the accuracy of general ledger entries and other financial transactions.
- Ensure that monthly and year-end financial closings are completed timely and accurately, in line with organizational timelines.
- Review reconciliations of accounts, including bank accounts, e-commerce accounts, and other financial data.
- Prepare and ensure timely submission of GST returns in compliance with local tax regulations and deadlines.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies, coordinating with the Batam team to investigate and correct errors.
Team Management and Coordination:
- Manage, guide, and supervise the offshore Batam team, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the Batam team, providing support, clarifications, and instructions where needed.
- Foster strong team collaboration and communication between the onshore and offshore teams to ensure alignment on key deliverables.
- Provide training and coaching to offshore team members to improve their accounting knowledge and skills.
- Monitor team performance and report on productivity, quality of work, and any concerns to the Assistant Finance Manager.
Financial Reconciliations and Reporting:
- Lead the reconciliation process for various accounts, including e-commerce platforms, intercompany transactions, accounts payable/receivable, and other financial data.
- Collaborate with the Batam team to ensure all reconciliation discrepancies are investigated and resolved promptly.
- Prepare financial reports, highlighting key variances and offering recommendations for improvements.
- Support the Assistant Finance Manager in preparing financial statements and regulatory reports.
Process Improvement:
- Identify areas of improvement in accounting processes and systems, including those managed by the offshore team.
- Implement process enhancements, automation tools, or better communication protocols to increase operational efficiency.
- Work closely with the Batam team to ensure that changes to procedures are understood and correctly implemented.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Liaise with other internal departments (e.g., IT, Operations, Procurement and Sales) to ensure accurate financial data flow and resolution of issues.
- Maintain clear communication with the Assistant Finance Manager, reporting any concerns or updates on team performance or accounts discrepancies.
- Provide regular updates and reports on the offshore team's performance and progress to the Assistant Finance Manager.
Compliance and Audit Support:
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures, as well as relevant local and international accounting regulations.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support for financial reviews.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting (professional certification such as CPA or ACCA is preferred)
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in a similar role, ideally from FMCG or wholesale trading industries
- Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office applications (Microsoft Business Central)
- Experience working with offshore teams is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of financial regulations and standards (IFRS, local tax laws).
