Head of Category Management

About this role:
This is a newly created role within our Novela Category Management team to help drive the continued growth of our business. As the Head of Category Management, you will play a crucial role in developing and executing the assortment strategy for our organization's beauty product category. You will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, analyzing market trends, and ensuring the availability of high-quality beauty products at competitive prices. Your efforts will contribute to driving revenue growth and customer satisfaction within the beauty product category.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers/vendors of beauty products, ensuring they meet quality standards, pricing requirements, and delivery timelines.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to obtain the best possible pricing, payment terms, and contractual conditions.
  • Monitor market trends, including pricing, product innovations, and consumer demands, to stay informed about industry developments and make informed buying decisions.
  • Drive strong activation on commercial initiatives, collaborate with internal retail team, and operations teams, to understand their requirements and ensure the availability of a diverse and appealing assortment of beauty products. 
  • Conduct regular analysis of category performance, including sales data, product performance, and customer feedback, to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to develop promotional strategies and campaigns to drive sales and enhance the visibility of beauty products.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and compliance requirements related to beauty products, ensuring all purchased items meet legal and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, supplier contracts, and pricing information.

Requirements:

  • Strong commercial skills in consumer goods and services industry
  • Proven experience as a buyer or category manager in the beauty industry, preferably within a retail or e-commerce environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of beauty product trends, market dynamics, and industry best practices.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills, with a track record of achieving cost savings and favorable terms.
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret market data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards for beauty products.
