Purpose of the Role
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for financial strategy, governance, and operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with Vietnamese corporate laws, international financial reporting standards, and corporate governance best practices. This role oversees financial planning, budgeting, treasury management, and cost control, while optimizing working capital and investment strategies to support the companys global import and export operations.
The CFO is also responsible for overseeing financial control across the corporation group incorporating the local manufacturing facilities and allied operations. Finance managers in overseas locations collaborate with and report directly to the CFO, ensuring a consistent financial governance framework across all global operations.
The CFO must ensure financial reports meet international corporate governance standards and are subject to scrutiny by an international board of directors and external audits. This role also plays a critical part in financial automation, risk management, corporate compliance, and manufacturing cost control, ensuring the corporation group remains financially resilient and operationally efficient.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Profitability Management
Develop and execute financial strategies that align with business objectives and operational growth.
Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring financial discipline and alignment with corporate goals.
Drive profit planning and cost control initiatives, optimizing financial resources across all departments.
Conduct financial modeling and scenario planning to assess business risks and opportunities.
Ensure efficient capital allocation to support business expansion and strategic investments.
Oversee financial planning and control for the company's international manufacturing facilities, ensuring alignment with corporate financial goals.
2. Financial Reporting, Compliance & Corporate Governance
Ensure financial reporting meets international corporate governance standards and is fully compliant with GAAP, IFRS, and Vietnamese tax laws.
Oversee the preparation of financial statements, audits, and tax filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local and global regulations.
Maintain strong internal controls and risk management frameworks to safeguard company assets.
Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
Standardize financial reporting processes across international manufacturing locations to ensure consistency.
Ensure board-level reporting meets the expectations of an international board of directors and withstands external audit scrutiny.
3. Treasury & Working Capital Management
Optimize cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to ensure financial stability.
Develop treasury policies for managing bank relationships, credit facilities, and foreign exchange exposure.
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives in financial operations to maximize efficiency.
Manage loan structures, investment strategies, and funding initiatives to support business expansion.
Oversee treasury and cash management strategies across all international manufacturing and operational sites.
4. Taxation, Risk & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with Vietnamese corporate tax laws, VAT regulations, and investment licensing provisions.
Minimize tax liabilities through effective tax planning and optimization strategies.
Work closely with legal advisors to address corporate governance, risk, and regulatory requirements.
Monitor changes in tax regulations and ensure the company remains fully compliant.
Ensure overseas operations comply with local tax laws and international financial regulations.
5. Cost Optimization & Manufacturing Finance
Collaborate with the Operations and Supply Chain teams to control manufacturing costs and inventory efficiency.
Oversee unit cost analysis and factory cost-saving initiatives, ensuring alignment with profit margins.
Conduct financial evaluations for process improvements and production efficiency projects.
Lead cross-functional cost challenge sessions to drive savings and enhance profitability.
Provide financial oversight for international manufacturing operations, ensuring cost control and margin optimization.
6. Financial Systems, Process Automation & Digital Transformation
Drive digital transformation in financial operations, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.
Implement ERP and financial management systems to streamline reporting and analysis.
Reduce manual processes by automating financial workflows and reporting structures.
Oversee the integration of financial automation and process improvements across international locations.
7. Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and financial excellence.
Ensure cross-department collaboration to align financial strategies with operational priorities.
Provide leadership to finance managers in overseas locations, ensuring adherence to corporate financial policies.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
1. Financial Performance Achieve annual financial targets, maintaining strong EBITDA margins.
2. Cash Flow & Liquidity Maintain healthy cash flow and optimize working capital ratios.
3. Cost Reduction & Manufacturing Efficiency Implement cost-saving initiatives to reduce production costs by at least 5% annually.
4. Regulatory, Tax & Governance Compliance Ensure 100% compliance with corporate governance standards, financial reporting, and tax regulations across all locations.
5. Process Automation Increase automation in financial transactions and reporting by 20% annually.
6. Investment & Business Decision Support Provide timely financial insights for capital investments and new business opportunities.
7. Financial Reporting Accuracy Maintain error-free financial reporting and audit compliance.
8. International Finance Oversight Ensure financial reporting consistency and governance across all global operations.
Yêu cầu công việc
1. Education: Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration; Postgraduate qualification in International Finance preferred.
2. Certifications: CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional certification.
3. Experience:
15+ years in financial leadership, with at least 5 years as a CFO in a manufacturing environment; a global company operating in Vietnam.
Extensive experience in profit planning, strong manufacturing background, cost control, and financial governance.
Track record in cost control and factory margin optimisation
Experience reporting to a Board and preparing reports for external audit
Oversight of international finance teams and operations
Strong understanding of Vietnamese corporate requirements, tax laws, investment licensing regulations, and corporate governance to international standards.
Proven track record in delivering financial reports that meet international board standards and external audit requirements.
Experience overseeing financial control for international operations and manufacturing facilities.
Strong English and executive-level communication skills
4. Technical Skills:
Expertise in financial planning, cost analysis, and investment management.
Deep understanding of ERP systems, financial process automation, and data analytics.
Experience in financial modeling and scenario planning to support strategic decision-making.
