Air Freight Operations (Key Account Airfreight)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Air Freight Operations professional to join our team and support the end-to-end management of key airfreight accounts.

This role is ideal for someone with solid hands-on experience in air import and export operations, who is comfortable managing customers, service providers, rates and shipment processes. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with international offices and develop greater exposure to key trade lanes and account management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end airfreight operations for both import and export shipments, from receiving shipment requests through booking, documentation, coordination and invoicing.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, internal teams and service providers, handling operational queries and resolving issues promptly.
• Coordinate with airlines, agents, transporters and other service providers to ensure smooth shipment execution and service delivery.
• Handle rate requests and pricing negotiations for prospective and existing clients.
• Maintain accurate and timely shipment information in CargoWise and ensure all operational records are kept up to date.
• Ensure shipments are handled in accordance with established SOPs, operational procedures and quality standards.
• Conduct quality control checks on shipments and proactively identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Support the development and strengthening of airfreight trade lanes between international offices.
• Monitor operational statistics and provide relevant information for performance tracking and reporting.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and learners.
• Handle escalations and operational challenges professionally, working towards practical and timely solutions.
• Take ownership of assigned accounts and processes while continuously looking for ways to improve efficiency and service quality.

Requirements

• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant logistics experience, preferably within airfreight operations.
• Hands-on experience in air import and export operations.
• Good understanding of general logistics processes, including warehousing, customs, rates and shipment documentation.
• Experience with CargoWise will be advantageous.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, colleagues and external service providers.
• Good planning and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities.
• Proactive, energetic and willing to take initiative beyond routine responsibilities.
• Able to handle difficult situations and resolve operational issues professionally.
• Willing to work overtime when required during periods of increased workload.
• A positive attitude with a strong desire to develop professionally and contribute to business growth.
