About the job Port Captain (Dry Bulk)
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all facets of port operations, such as stevedore coordination, cargo loading and unloading, and vessel scheduling.
- Verify adherence to business rules, industry standards, and safety legislation.
- Create and preserve connections with local representatives, port officials, and other interested parties.
- Track and evaluate port performance, pinpoint areas in need of development, and put the right plans into action.
- Control and maximise journey costs, taking into account the cost of bunker supply and other running costs.
- Work together with other departments, such finance and logistics, to guarantee smooth coordination and communication.
- Assist ship crews with loading and unloading procedures by offering technical advice and assistance.
- Assure accurate and timely reporting of port performance and activities.
- To promote continual progress, keep abreast of advancements and trends in the industry.
Requirements:
- Expertise in a related position.
- Master Mariner COC or a comparable designation.
- Strong familiarity with port operations, including cargo handling, safety protocols, and stowage planning.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Demonstrated capacity for team leadership and management.
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, such as maritime studies.
