Responsibilities:

  • Control every aspect of port operations, including scheduling of vessels, stevedore coordination, and cargo loading and unloading.
  • Check for compliance with industry norms, safety laws, and company policies.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with port authorities, municipal officials, and other relevant parties.
  • Monitor and assess port performance, identify areas that require improvement, and implement the appropriate measures.
  • Control and optimise travel expenses while accounting for other operating expenses and the cost of bunker supplies.
  • Collaborate with various divisions, including finance and logistics, to ensure efficient planning and correspondence.
  • Offer technical guidance and support to ship crews during the loading and unloading process.
  • Ensure that port performance and activities are reported accurately and on schedule.
  • In order to encourage ongoing development, stay current with developments and patterns in the industry.

Requirements for the role:

  • Proficiency in a relevant field.
  • Master Mariner COC, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of port operations, including stowage planning, safety procedures, and cargo handling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in maritime studies or another equivalent field
